Charles L Mauro CHFP I Founder and President
Mr. Mauro holds a Masters Degree in Ergonomics from New York University. At NYU he was a NIOSH research fellow at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation medicine. Charles Mauro is a Certified Human Factors Engineering Professional CHFP / BPCE. He has received grants and fellowships from the Ford Foundation, National Institute Occupational Safety and Health, and The National Endowment for the Arts. Since 1975 he has been President of MauroNewMedia, a leading provider of professional usability engineering and high performance user interface design consulting services.
Prior to forming MauroNewMedia he worked personally with product design pioneers Henry Dreyfuss and Raymond Loewy. During Détente he managed the first product development program undertaken by a U.S. firm for the Soviet Ministry of Science and Technology. He has been directly responsible for research and development of numerous business-critical user interfaces including design of primary trading systems used on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. His experience spans more than 35 years and includes consumer, commercial, military and aerospace applications.
He consults on a regular basis with Fortune 500 clients and leading start-ups. Mr. Mauro has received numerous citations and awards including the Alexander C. Williams Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and citations from NASA and Association of Computing Machines (ACM). He has served on many national and international panels and has chaired 2 ANSI standards committees. Mr. Mauro also served on the Presidential Design Awards Program for the NEA and was a founding member of the Human Factors Society Special Interest Group on Consumer Products.
Mr. Mauro consults on a regular basis with leading corporate CEOs on strategic issues of screen-based customer experience design, usability, interactive brand development and fixed to virtual migration of products and services. He has been accepted in federal court as an expert witness for design patents, trade dress and other intellectual property issues related to user interface design. He holds numerous US and international patents.
Mr. Mauro is published in the professional and popular literature and has been quoted in Fortune, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, Science, and other leading business publications. He routinely speaks at national and international conferences on design, usability and user interface development. Mr. Mauro lectures at leading Graduate programs including: MIT Sloan School, Stanford, and other engineering and MBA programs. His first major book Usability: the Bottom Line will be published this year.
Andrea E. Peterson I Senior Vice President
Andrea Peterson joined the firm in 1985 as Director of Visual Interface Design and Interactive Brand Development. She holds an undergraduate degree in experimental psychology from Skidmore College and a MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University. Prior to joining MauroNewMedia she was founder and principal of her own corporate communications firm in New York. Over the course of her career she has worked extensively with Fortune 500 clients on issues of visual brand development, corporate communications, retail store design, e-com strategy and interactive brand development. She has received numerous awards and citations from the New York Art Directors Club and other leading professional societies. At Yale she received the Wallace Cheney award for outstanding artistic composition. She has also undertaken extensive studies in music theory and composition at the Julliard School in New York and manages our multi-media sound/music integration efforts.
Corrado Ronchi, Ph.D. I SVP Technology
Dr. Ronchi holds a Master's degree in theoretical physics from "La Sapienza" University of Rome (Italy) and a Ph.D. in computational and applied physics from Cornell University (NY, USA). Dr. Ronchi holds several international patents and has conducted academic research for several years, publishing over 20 articles in international refereed journals, and lecturing at leading scientific institutions and international conferences. Prior to his current occupation, Dr. Ronchi has worked for leading global corporations, such as AT&T, Cisco Systems, and Telecom Italia. Dr. Ronchi consults on a regular basis with leading European and USA corporations on strategic issues concerning high technologies applied to Internet-based business models and business-critical software applications. Dr. Ronchi's expertise is focused on meeting critical e-com business objectives in cross-cultural applications with a special focus on US / European screen-based delivery systems. His background includes extensive experience in numerous critical industries including telecommunications, consumer products and financial services.
Paul W. Thurman, MS, MBA
Paul has over 15 years of senior management consulting and line management experience and has served clients on five continents. Since late 2000, Paul has exclusively served senior executives in some of the world's largest consumer electronics manufacturing and retailing concerns.
Mr. Thurman has focused on strategic planning and market analysis in the consumer electronics sector. Paul held senior consulting and line management positions with American Express, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Mitchell Madison Group.
Paul also serves on the faculties of several leading graduate schools of business including the Columbia Business School, the London Business School, and the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a faculty member at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs, the American College of Greece, and at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China. Paul has received numerous teaching and educational leadership awards and is a popular speaker and presenter at industry and professional conferences around the world.
Paul received a Master of Business Administration (valedictorian) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (with honors) from Stanford University and completed graduate work in Statistics and Operations Research at the Courant Institute at New York University.
